Characters
- Cid Highwind in Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Cid Highwind, the pilot of the airship Highwind, is playable for the first time in the remake series in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, as a lance-wielding dragoon and the party's aerial specialist: timed combos into Dragon Spin, Hyper Dive and Ground Pound, and a Target Spear (IGN calls it Mark Lance) that pins up to five spears to power his jumps. Hamaguchi says his final Limit Break ties into the Weapon battles and the Highwind.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Characters
Final Fantasy VII Revelation has a party of eight playable characters, with Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind playable for the first time in the remake series, alongside Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Red XIII, Yuffie and Cait Sith; Zack gets more playable segments, and Aerith's role is not announced. Godo, Glenn Lodbrok, Cissnei, Chadley and his assistant MAI lead the supporting cast.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Voice Cast
Final Fantasy VII Revelation's English cast is led by Cody Christian (Cloud), Britt Baron (Tifa), John Eric Bentley (Barret) and Briana White (Aerith), with Matt Mercer as Vincent, J. Michael Tatum as Cid and Caleb Pierce as Zack; the one change is Sephiroth, now voiced by Travis Willingham in place of Tyler Hoechlin. The cast said goodbye at a New York Comic Con panel on Oct 8, 2026.
- Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Sephiroth is Final Fantasy VII Revelation's antagonist, "nearing godhood" after Rebirth and waiting for Cloud in the Whirlwind Maze at the start of the game; Travis Willingham voices him in English, replacing Tyler Hoechlin, whom director Naoki Hamaguchi said had scheduling conflicts. Story DLC 1 of the Story Expansion Pass is named "Sephiroth".
- Vincent Valentine in Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Vincent Valentine, a former Turk changed by Shinra's experiments, is playable for the first time in the remake series in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, fighting with pistols whose abilities grow with every hit and turning into the Galian Beast at will, at the cost of a Chaos meter that lowers his maximum HP. Square Enix promises new reveals about his past, and Story DLC 2 is "Vincent & the Turks".
DLC
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation DLC
Final Fantasy VII Revelation has two paid story DLCs, Story DLC 1 "Sephiroth" and Story DLC 2 "Vincent & the Turks", planned between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028 and sold together as the Story Expansion Pass, which is included in the Premium, Premium Plus and Collector's Editions. Their stories, prices and dates are not announced as of Nov 7, 2026.
Enemies
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Enemies and Bosses
The bosses and enemies shown in Final Fantasy VII Revelation so far are Jenova Death (also written Jenova Deathmourner), the Tokyo Game Show demo's fire-and-tentacle boss, Gigas and Dragon Riders in the Whirlwind Maze, Malboros overrunning Gongaga, and tougher beasts in the Grasslands. A Knights of the Round storyline with a superboss-level fight has been teased. The Weapons have their own page.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Weapons
The Weapons are colossal guardians the planet awakens against Meteor, and Final Fantasy VII Revelation makes them its signature fights. Square Enix has named Ruby, Emerald and Ultima Weapon, the reveal trailer gives Sapphire Weapon long screen time, and a brand-new Weapon appears whose name has not been revealed. Some are optional endgame battles.
Gameplay
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Combat
Final Fantasy VII Revelation keeps the hybrid battle system of Remake and Rebirth, real-time action plus a Tactical Mode that pauses to spend ATB on spells, abilities and items, and adds two new fighters (Cid and Vincent), expanded synergies, the FITS outfits, and fighting from chocobo-back. Combat director Teruki Endo calls this entry "all about polish and increasing player freedom."
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation FITS System
FITS (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear) is Final Fantasy VII Revelation's job system: four outfits per character, Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner, each giving a new moveset and role, chosen on the Highwind. A character without one is a Freelancer, and the outfits change how a character fights, not, by early accounts, their stats.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Highwind
In Final Fantasy VII Revelation you fly Cid's airship, the Highwind, in real time over the whole planet from early in the game and parachute from its deck to land almost anywhere, with no loading. The ship is also the party's base, where you change FITS and meet Wize, Billy, Piko and Chadley.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Length and Difficulty
Director Naoki Hamaguchi puts Final Fantasy VII Revelation's main story at about 35 hours or more and a completionist run at 100 hours or more. Hard Mode can be chosen from the start, Classic Mode returns, minigames get difficulty settings and a skip, cutscenes can play at double speed, and an optional prompt raises your party to the story's recommended level.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Minigames
Final Fantasy VII Revelation brings back the Gold Saucer with snowboarding and chocobo racing, turns the Tifa and Scarlet slap fight into a minigame, adds a timed grapple race in Wutai and cat photography, and gives minigames difficulty settings and a skip. Queen's Blood returns too, on its own page.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Side Quests
Final Fantasy VII Revelation's side quests are odd jobs taken from people around the world, all new even in returning regions, and the party member you send changes how a quest's story and gameplay unfold. MAI, Chadley's assistant, announces the world's activities; previews found her notifications intrusive.
- Piko the Chocobo
Piko is the party's chocobo in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, a mount that levels up with you, gains new abilities including high flight and an aerial dash, and fights at your side; you can attack from his back and dismount at any time. He lives aboard the Highwind with the chocobo farmer Billy.
- Queen's Blood in Final Fantasy VII Revelation
Queen's Blood, Rebirth's card game, returns in Final Fantasy VII Revelation with a new story saga led by Red XIII (Nanaki) instead of Cloud, opponents whose abilities change the rules mid-match, and a new trump card mechanic. Wize runs it from the Highwind, where you edit your deck.

- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Previews

Series
- Compilation of Final Fantasy VII
The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII is Square Enix's set of spin-offs announced in 2003: Before Crisis (2004), the film Advent Children and the anime Last Order (2005), Dirge of Cerberus (2006) and Crisis Core (2007), later joined by The First Soldier and Ever Crisis. Hamaguchi says Revelation adds connections to all of them.
- Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is Square Enix's Dec 13, 2022 remaster of the 2007 PSP prequel about Zack Fair, on PS5, PS4, Switch, Xbox and PC, and on Nintendo Switch 2 since Sep 9, 2026. Its story ends where Final Fantasy VII begins, which makes it the most useful extra before Revelation.
- Final Fantasy VII (1997)
Final Fantasy VII is Square's 1997 PlayStation RPG, out Jan 31, 1997 in Japan and Sep 7, 1997 in North America, later ported to PC, phones, PS4, Switch and Xbox One, and sold more than 15.1 million copies. Revelation remakes its final third.
- Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis was a free-to-play retelling of the Final Fantasy VII story by Applibot and Square Enix, on iOS and Android from Sep 7, 2023 and Steam from Dec 2023, which ended service on Oct 6, 2026. Its new story about young Sephiroth, The First Soldier, is the likely source of Revelation's Sephiroth DLC.
- Final Fantasy VII Games in Order
In release order the Final Fantasy VII games run from the 1997 original through Before Crisis, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Remake, The First Soldier, Crisis Core Reunion, Ever Crisis and Rebirth to Revelation on Apr 8, 2027. Before Revelation you need Remake (or Intergrade) and Rebirth; everything else is optional.
- Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy, came out on PS5 on Feb 29, 2024, on PC on Jan 23, 2025 and on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on Jun 3, 2026. Story
- Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth Story So Far
Spoiler warning. Final Fantasy VII Remake follows Avalanche's war on Shinra in Midgar and ends with Cloud's party breaking "destiny" by defeating the Whispers; Rebirth crosses the world after Sephiroth, adds Yuffie, Cid and Vincent, and ends with Aerith killed by Sephiroth at the Forgotten Capital while other worlds, including one where Zack lives, press against theirs. Revelation begins after that.
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Story
Final Fantasy VII Revelation tells the last part of the remade Final Fantasy VII story, in which Cloud's party, grieving a friend and flying the Highwind, races to stop Meteor and a Sephiroth "nearing godhood" while the planet's Weapons attack everyone. As of Nov 7, 2026 Square Enix has shown the opening hours and an early chapter in Wutai, not the ending.
Studio
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation Developers
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is developed and published by Square Enix, directed by Naoki Hamaguchi, produced by Yoshinori Kitase, with Tetsuya Nomura as creative director and Teruki Endo leading combat. Yoshitaka Amano drew the logo, and Nomura and Roberto Ferrari designed the characters.
World
- Final Fantasy VII Revelation World Map
Final Fantasy VII Revelation's world map is the whole planet as one seamless open world, flown by the Highwind airship with a parachute drop to any open spot. Square Enix has shown Wutai, the Mideel Archipelago, Rocket Town and the Northern Crater as new areas, and the Grasslands, Kalm, Junon, Gongaga, Costa del Sol and the Gold Saucer as returning ones, changed by Meteor and the Weapons.
- Wutai
Wutai is Yuffie's homeland, the warrior nation that fought Shinra, and a new area in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, built as a large capital of tall vermilion buildings, cats and grappling points. In the press demo it hosts Yuffie's Chapter 4 quest, with her father Godo Kisaragi and Glenn Lodbrok, while tensions with Shinra are at a fever pitch.
