Final Fantasy VII Revelation Minigames
Final Fantasy VII Revelation brings back the Gold Saucer with snowboarding and chocobo racing, turns the Tifa and Scarlet slap fight into a minigame, adds a timed grapple race in Wutai and cat photography, and gives minigames difficulty settings and a skip. Queen's Blood returns too, on its own page.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation has minigames all over its world, and for the first time in the remake series you can lower their difficulty or skip them. The Sep 3, 2026 Deep Dive says there is "lots to do beyond just battling fiends and engaging in mini-games" and stops in Wutai to photograph a cat. Director Naoki Hamaguchi told Inven Global that the team added minigame difficulty options and a skip for players who want to bypass them, and named the Gold Saucer, snowboarding and chocobo racing among what returns. A full list of minigames has not been published as of Nov 7, 2026; this page collects every one shown or described. The card game has its own page, Queen's Blood in Final Fantasy VII Revelation.

Is the Gold Saucer in Final Fantasy VII Revelation?
Yes, and it is Hamaguchi's favorite part of the press demo. He told Inven Global that a Gold Saucer side quest has the low-poly characters from 3D Battler take over the place, and that chocobo racing and snowboarding are playable there. Game Informer's Eric Van Allen, who spent most of his Gamescom session at the Saucer, describes the same story as the mascots having "staged a workers' uprising at the Saucer", with Vincent or Cait Sith sent to restore order. The two accounts describe one quest from two angles; Square Enix has not named it.
The Moogles are coming too. Curious Corduroy relays Hamaguchi's answer to Wccftech that the Moogles of Rebirth's Moogle House return with a new role: they have formed an idol group, and the party does activities to raise its popularity, building toward a big performance at the Gold Saucer. That account comes through a creator reading an interview; Square Enix has not shown it.
The desert outside the Saucer is also where IGN saw Ruby Weapon wandering, which is on Final Fantasy VII Revelation Weapons.
Snowboarding
Snowboarding is back, and bigger than it was. Hamaguchi told Inven Global it has "substantial volume", with routes that offer different experiences. Van Allen found it "pretty fun to get into" but, like the chocobo racing track, shallower than the changes to Queen's Blood.
From the 1997 game: snowboarding came after Aerith's death in the original, on the way north, and was also playable at the Gold Saucer. Kotaku's Lewis Parker noted in June that it had not appeared in any trailer and wondered whether it would be toned down. Inven Global's interview settles that it is in, and says the minigames also play a role in the main story.
Also from the 1997 game: the Great Glacier, where Cloud had to keep warm or collapse. Hamaguchi told Shacknews at Tokyo Game Show that there is "a section of the game where you have to move through a very cold place", though he would not call it a minigame "so much".
Chocobo racing
Chocobo racing returns at the Gold Saucer (Inven Global; Game Informer). Nothing has been said about breeding, which was part of racing in the 1997 game. Your own chocobo in the open world is a separate system, on Piko the Chocobo, and CGMagazine saw "chocobo dressage" pop up as an activity in the Grasslands during the Gamescom demo.
The Tifa and Scarlet slap fight
From the 1997 game: Tifa and Shinra's Scarlet trade slaps in a scene on the original's second disc, the stretch Revelation remakes. In Revelation it is a minigame, which Hamaguchi says has "great presentation and gameplay mechanics". No footage of it has been released as of Nov 7, 2026.
Minigames in the open world
In Wutai, IGN entered a grapple gun race in which Yuffie had to prove her worth by climbing to the town's highest point in a limited time. The town itself is on Wutai.
Photography is a pastime of its own. Curious Corduroy relays Kotaku's Hayes Madsen, who found the selfie Cloud and Aerith took in Rebirth, and the photo of Cloud and Tifa at Fort Condor, displayed inside the Highwind; Hamaguchi confirmed your experiences are reflected there. Previews also mention an expanded camera in which characters pose when you point it at them. The Deep Dive's cat photo in Wutai is the same feature at work.
Can you skip minigames in Revelation?
Yes. Hamaguchi told Inven Global that a skip feature was added for players who want to bypass minigames, along with difficulty options. Game Informer reported the same in June and added that most minigame rewards will no longer be combat items, so skipping should cost you less in battle than it did in Rebirth.
That answers the complaint most often made about Rebirth. IGN's second-take preview says the amount of "checklisty" side content and mandatory minigames made Rebirth feel bloated to its writer, who hoped Revelation would present its larger amount of content in a more manageable way.
We think the skip is the right call and will be judged by one detail: whether it covers story minigames such as the slap fight and snowboarding, or only optional ones. Square Enix has not said which. We expect it to cover both, since Hamaguchi said the minigames play a role in the main story and offered the skip in the same answer.
What the cast said
At New York Comic Con, one of the English cast told TV Insider (Oct 13, 2026) that the heavy material resonated most because it sits beside "all these events and mini games and things" that are "so ludicrous": the juxtaposition is the point. Our view: that mix of the absurd and the grave is exactly what the 1997 game's final disc did, from snowboarding to the slap fight, and Revelation keeping both is a good sign.
Minigames: 1997, Rebirth and Revelation

| Snowboarding | Yes | No | Yes, several routes |
| Chocobo racing | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Queen's Blood | No | Yes | Yes, Red XIII's saga |
| Slap fight | A scene | No | A minigame |
| Difficulty settings and skip | No | No general option | Yes |
This comparison is ours. The Rebirth column records what Rebirth offered at its 2024 launch as we understand it, and the Revelation column only what has been shown or said before Nov 7, 2026.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation CombatFinal Fantasy VII Revelation keeps the hybrid battle system of Remake and Rebirth, real-time action plus a Tactical Mode that pauses to spend ATB on spells, abilities and items, and adds two new fighters (Cid and Vincent), expanded synergies, the FITS outfits, and fighting from chocobo-back. Combat director Teruki Endo calls this entry "all about polish and increasing player freedom."

Final Fantasy VII Revelation FITS SystemFITS (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear) is Final Fantasy VII Revelation's job system: four outfits per character, Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner, each giving a new moveset and role, chosen on the Highwind. A character without one is a Freelancer, and the outfits change how a character fights, not, by early accounts, their stats.
