Final Fantasy VII Revelation Enemies and Bosses
The bosses and enemies shown in Final Fantasy VII Revelation so far are Jenova Death (also written Jenova Deathmourner), the Tokyo Game Show demo's fire-and-tentacle boss, Gigas and Dragon Riders in the Whirlwind Maze, Malboros overrunning Gongaga, and tougher beasts in the Grasslands. A Knights of the Round storyline with a superboss-level fight has been teased. The Weapons have their own page.
The only boss Final Fantasy VII Revelation has let anyone fight so far is Jenova Death, at the end of the Tokyo Game Show 2026 demo; everything else known about its enemies comes from trailers, the Gamescom press demo and interviews. All of them are fought with the hybrid system Square Enix says was "established in REMAKE and refined in REBIRTH" and is "perfected in REVELATION": real-time action, then Tactical Mode for spells, synergies and summons. This page lists every enemy and boss shown as of Nov 7, 2026, except the Weapons, which are on Final Fantasy VII Revelation Weapons. It will become a boss guide when the game is out on Apr 8, 2027.
Spoiler note: the Tokyo Game Show demo is set in the Northern Crater, a late part of the 1997 story.

Jenova Death
The boss of the Tokyo Game Show demo, a special chapter called "The Party Assembles" that RPGFan says started at level 36 in an icy area echoing the Northern Crater. The PlayStation Blog's report from the show describes it this way:
- Look: the Jenova form from the 1997 game, redesigned with a spiky body.
- Fire: wide-area fireballs and scorching gusts; the report warns to "dodge or guard these attacks or risk severe damage to the party".
- Tentacles: midway through, tentacles sprout and shield the main body until each one is destroyed; later they spew fire like flamethrowers.
- How it fell: the writer brought it down with Synergy Abilities and Limit Breaks.
The name: the PlayStation Blog's introduction calls the boss "Jenova Deathmourner" and its boss section "Jenova Death", and Game Informer's Wesley LeBlanc uses "Jenova Death". Both spellings come from the same week's coverage; the English name in the finished game is not confirmed. Nobody we found finished the fight within the 25-minute sessions: LeBlanc's timer ran out during the boss, and RPGFan's demo ended before he could finish it.
Our tips, worked out from those descriptions rather than from play: fight the tentacles first, since the core is shielded until they are gone; keep a character on guard duty for the wide fire attacks; and save synergies for the stretch after the tentacles fall. We will replace these with tested tactics at launch.
Whirlwind Maze enemies
The same demo's path to Jenova runs through the Whirlwind Maze. The PlayStation Blog lists Dragon Riders and Gigas as "tough foes" deep in the maze. RPGFan's Matt Wardell calls its Gigas a "somewhat modest" version that echoes the original game's encounter, and Game Informer saw serpents, four-legged creatures and other beasts native to the maze, and crowded battlefields that made Vincent's stagger attacks useful. Both mention black-robed figures along the path that are not described as enemies. Sephiroth appears near the end, in a scripted vision rather than a fight (more on Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII Revelation).
Enemies in the open world
Gongaga's jungle is overrun. In the Deep Dive of Sep 3, 2026, a soldier explains that "ever since the meteor appeared, Malboros have overrun the jungle", and the captain has had barricades built to keep them out. That leads into the Gongaga side quest on Final Fantasy VII Revelation Side Quests.
The Grasslands, Rebirth's gentle starting region full of "fodder enemies", now have "hulking evil beasts" roaming them, IGN's second preview says, and felt noticeably different to explore.
IGN's Michael Higham went straight for high-level fights with Cid and Vincent, dropping into the Mideel Archipelago to take on its optional combat assignments. CGMagazine also found new enemy types in the Grasslands' combat assignments, without naming them. RPGFan's screenshots from the Gamescom trailer show Cloud, Cid and Vincent fighting a dragon.
For crowds, the previews' favorite answer is Vincent: his Galian Beast form "absolutely rips through enemies", with no limit on switching forms, only a cost to his maximum HP for staying transformed too long. His full kit is on Vincent Valentine in Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
Knights of the Round
Teased, not shown. In Curious Corduroy's Sep 11, 2026 roundup, he reads Hamaguchi saying that Revelation has "a specific storyline that follows in a similar vein to the Protorelic quest" of Rebirth and that the team is "putting a lot of effort into Knights of the Round content", because the fan-favorite Materia should not simply be picked up on a random island as in the 1997 game. Corduroy adds, from the MinnMax interview with Hamaguchi and combat director Teruki Endo, that Endo was not satisfied with the first version of the fight, had it rebuilt, and wants it to be a difficult superboss. Square Enix has not shown the fight.
From the 1997 game: Knights of the Round was the most powerful summon, found on a hidden island. Whether you earn it by beating the Knights in Revelation has been reported but not confirmed by Square Enix.
What is not shown yet
From the 1997 game, these fights came in the part of the story Revelation remakes, and none has been shown as of Nov 7, 2026: the Turks' later encounters, Shinra's final stand at Midgar, Hojo, and the battles inside the Northern Crater's core. We do not list them as Revelation bosses until Square Enix or the press show them. The story they belong to is on Final Fantasy VII Revelation Story.
We think the boss list will be the longest in the trilogy: Hamaguchi has promised hard endgame content (see Final Fantasy VII Revelation Length and Difficulty), the five Weapons shown so far are giant fights waiting to happen, and the 1997 game's last disc was built almost entirely around confrontations.
