Final Fantasy VII Revelation Voice Cast
Final Fantasy VII Revelation's English cast is led by Cody Christian (Cloud), Britt Baron (Tifa), John Eric Bentley (Barret) and Briana White (Aerith), with Matt Mercer as Vincent, J. Michael Tatum as Cid and Caleb Pierce as Zack; the one change is Sephiroth, now voiced by Travis Willingham in place of Tyler Hoechlin. The cast said goodbye at a New York Comic Con panel on Oct 8, 2026.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation keeps the English cast of Remake and Rebirth, adds Matt Mercer and J. Michael Tatum in bigger roles as the newly playable Vincent and Cid, and changes one voice: Travis Willingham is now Sephiroth, replacing Tyler Hoechlin. Mercer was the first cast member on stage for the game, introduced by director Naoki Hamaguchi at Summer Game Fest on Jun 5, 2026 as "the voice of Vincent Valentine" to narrate the first gameplay. The full English cast appeared together at New York Comic Con on Oct 8, 2026 for a panel titled "One Last Ride: A Conversation with the English Voice Cast of Final Fantasy VII Revelation" (Boss Rush Network, Oct 8, 2026). Square Enix had not published a Japanese cast list for Revelation in a source we could check as of Nov 7, 2026.

What each character does is on Final Fantasy VII Revelation Characters.
Why did Sephiroth's voice actor change?
Hamaguchi said Tyler Hoechlin was unavailable during production because of scheduling conflicts, in an interview with the streamer Maximilian Dood after the reveal, and Travis Willingham confirmed he is "taking up the mantle of Sephiroth in this third installment" (Kotaku, Ethan Gach, Jun 6, 2026).
The first time players heard him was in press clips from the Tokyo Game Show demo in Sep 2026. Curious Corduroy, reacting on Sep 17, 2026, found the voice deep "but there are moments where it's also kind of light and airy", an "odd gentleness" that grows eerie, and settled on "condescending" as the word for it. Willingham himself said at NYCC that "nothing is more dangerous than a villain that doesn't need to shout to be heard", and named the Japanese actor "Morikawa-san" as his "North Star" (Boss Rush Network). More on Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII Revelation.
The cast made him welcome. In TV Insider's NYCC interview one member broke in to say "I'm just happy Travis is with us", "a beautiful thing" and "long time coming".
What did the cast say at New York Comic Con?
Boss Rush Network's report of the Oct 8, 2026 panel (Boss Rush Network):
| Actor | What they said |
|---|---|
| Cody Christian | The ending is bittersweet; he put "over 800 hours" into the project; many favorite scenes to record were in Revelation |
| Britt Baron | Tifa feels like part of her; saying goodbye is "very hard and emotional"; the cast "felt like a family" |
| John Eric Bentley | The actors owed players a clear beginning, middle and end |
| Suzie Yeung | Yuffie's arc grows with Wutai, her home turf |
| Paul Tinto | Cait Sith's mask "slowly drops" by the final game |
| Matt Mercer | Worked on giving the stoic Vincent personality in battle |
| J. Michael Tatum | A fan since childhood; listened to the others' recordings to shape Cid |
| Briana White | Seven years after the last E3 reveal, "the most wild thing ever" |
| Caleb Pierce | Surprised to be called back; "the greatest adventure" |
| Travis Willingham | Sephiroth is menace balanced with restraint |
What did the cast tell TV Insider?
TV Insider's Oct 13, 2026 interview, filmed at NYCC, opens on how the convention felt: "a lot of us have been on this journey for years and years and years", and Revelation is "the pinnacle", "the send-off", a bittersweet goodbye for the cast and the fans.
Handed the question about how the industry has changed by his castmates, Matt Mercer called the remake series "the culmination of the old school games that inspired so many people" and "a perfect example of how to do something like this on this scale correctly".
One cast member, "kind of new to this world of voice acting" but not to acting, said the heavy material was their favorite to record, set against a world of "events and mini games and things that are so ludicrous". Another described finally recording lines "it's been 7 years and much longer even for the fans" waiting for: "I can't believe we get to do this and say this."
J. Michael Tatum on Cid: in Rebirth "Cid was kind of a support character", not "comedic relief" exactly, but without heavy moments, and in Revelation "they gave him some heavy moments. I was like, how's that going to go? Oh, it's going to go."
Asked for favorite lines, with their NDAs in mind, the cast picked lines from across the series: Cloud's "Not interested", "a perfect representation of where he's kind of at 90% of the time"; Red XIII's "I am Nanaki, son of Seto"; Vincent's coffin line; and Zack's "Me, Gongaga".
Paul Tinto picked a Cait Sith line built on a Scottish phrase meaning "give it everything", and credited the writers for hunting down Scottish expressions for Cait and taking his suggested alternate lines, so players in Scotland will hear phrases "they would never imagine hearing in a game the size of this".
How do the performances sound so far?
From the TGS clips, Curious Corduroy heard "a significant jump in Cody's performance from Remake to Rebirth and now Rebirth to Revelation", in the Nibelheim scene where Cloud remembers Zack. He also singled out J. Michael Tatum's battle "effort sounds" as Cid, "the southern draw".
In our view, from the material out so far, the recast is the only real question mark: every other voice has carried through two games, and the TGS Sephiroth scene is quiet and short. We think the response at launch will split the way it did in June, with players of the English version missing Hoechlin's playfulness and Willingham's colder reading winning most of them over by the ending. That is ours to check after Apr 8, 2027 (Predictions).
Which languages is Revelation in?
At Gamescom in Aug 2026, Hamaguchi's interviewers showed a clip of the same scene dubbed into several languages, German among them, which Curious Corduroy plays in his Aug 28, 2026 video. Steam lists English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean, but as of Nov 7, 2026 its page does not mark which have full audio (Steam). Platform details are on Final Fantasy VII Revelation Platforms and File Size.
Who is in the Japanese cast?
Square Enix has not published the Japanese cast for Revelation in a source we could check as of Nov 7, 2026. Willingham's tribute to "Morikawa-san" points to Toshiyuki Morikawa continuing as Sephiroth, the role he played in the earlier games, but that is our reading, not an announcement. We will add the Japanese cast when Square Enix or the game's credits name it.
